CINDERELLA BALLET.
The Australian Ballet has been delivering timeless, classic ballets and commissioning new work annually
for over 50 years. The company’s commitment to artistic excellence and a spirited style have defined
The Australian 
Ballet both on stage and off. Their upcoming performance of the acclaimed Cinderella,
has generated the need for promotional and educational collateral to raise awareness and spark interest
in the performance as it travels across the country. Outlined was a brochure, adhering to a strict two-tone
colour palette in order to reduce printing costs, in a contemporary design to reflect the company’s updated
twist on the performance.
A ballet appropriate for all ages, Alexei Ratmansky’s Cinderella has all the elements of the story we
know and love – a feisty heroine, a dashing prince, a kindly godmother and a deliciously wicked stepmother –
with some fantastical additions.
The brochure design combines classic Cinderella attributes with modern application to reflect Ratmansky’s
twist to a timeless fairytale. Coinciding with the two-tone constraints, a black and white colour scheme was
applied with the addition of a soft pantone blue, designed to replicate the colour associated with Cinderella.
Typography selection was motivated by continuing to reproduce the balance of traditional and contemporary
design. Utilising a light, modern sans serif in combination with a sophisticated serif body copy, mirrored the
aesthetic outlined by the colour palette and layout to perfectly represent a dreamily intoxicating ballet.
